1. What have you enjoyed most about working at D3 so far?

While working at D3 for the last 5 months has been an overall great experience, the thing I enjoy the most is being part of such a small connected team. Under the mentoring of D3’s experienced planners, I feel like I have been able to contribute and add value to D3 clients from the start. D3’s inclusive culture has made it easy to become part of the team. From weekly lunch meetings, company retreats and client appreciation events, there’s been no shortage of opportunities to get to know and become friends with everyone at D3.

2. What area of financial planning interests you most?

Investments and portfolio management are the areas of financial planning I personally find most interesting. I find it fascinating how financial markets can affect individuals and family’s financial goals and behavior. With my investment background through ISU’s Educational Investment Fund and internship at Country Financial, I’ve been fortunate to gain experience in an industry I find so interesting. Since joining the D3 investment team, I have really enjoyed learning about and contributing to D3’s investment selection and portfolio management efforts.

3. If you could close your eyes and be anywhere on earth when they opened, where would you be?

If I could be anywhere in the world, it would probably be on top of a lift at Alta Ski Resort in Utah. Since 7thgrade my family has taken trips to visit my Aunt and Uncle living in the Salt Lake area. It has become kind of a tradition for my family to all spend some time together and do some serious skiing. It’s always a lot of fun for us to all get out there and I always hate leaving when it’s time to return to reality.

4. What is your favorite way to spend your free time on the weekends?

In my free time, I like to stay active by going to the gym and playing basketball with some of my friends. Other than that, I enjoy going out to the movies or just hanging out watching any Bears, Bulls, or Hawks game on TV.

5. You just moved into the city. What are you looking forward to most about living in Chicago?

I’m very excited to see what Chicago’s food scene is all about. One thing I enjoy is trying out new restaurants and food spots. I plan to do my best Guy Fieri and try to get a taste of everything the city has to offer. Other than that, I plan to take advantage of all the shows and night life happening in Chicago.

6. What are three things still left on your bucket list?

  • Skydiving
  • Traveling to Ireland
  • Learning how to cook the world’s best chicken wings.

7. When you were a child, what did you think your future career would be?

When I was young I really wanted to become an astronaut when I grew up. I remember watching Apollo 13 when I was a kid and thought being an astronaut would be the coolest thing ever.

8. What are you currently watching on Netflix?

Although I may be late to the party, I am just now finishing up the second season of Stranger Things.

9. What is one thing you can’t live without?

I couldn’t live without Lou Malnati’s pizza. Their deep-dish pizza is something else!

10. Have you traveled abroad?

I haven’t but would really like to sometime soon.
